A massive 50% of women in the UK are wearing uninsured wedding rings – representing more than £35bn worth of uninsured jewellery.

In fact, 15 per cent admit to not even considering insuring it, mistakenly believing it will already be covered by their current home insurance (18 per cent).

Jeremy Moll, managing director of Compare the Market, said: “Even though engagement rings factor highly on our list of most treasured possessions, it’s surprising to learn how many couples don’t make provisions for them if the worst should happen.”
