“Informa is a leading player in the information and knowledge economy, and has a mixture of businesses within this segment of the market. Its academic journals and publishing business are very stable with steady growth rates. Its Global Exhibitions business is growing fast, 19% up in 2014 with more to come. Other parts of the business have not done so well but the group’s Growth Acceleration plan should see capital being allocated more efficiently. The group is also making the most of modern technologies by increasing the number of online subscriptions, eBooks and cloud based services.

“We like Informa as an investment choice for those interested in the media sector. The group looks as though it is growing steadily and positive transitional measures are now in place. Our current view is that the group is a ‘buy’ for medium risk investors with a balanced investment objective.”
