Investments

All eyes were on Apple this after it was revealed billionaire investor Warren Buffett bought $1bn of shares. But we spoke to fund managers who reveal their alternative tech stock picks. Following last month’s record low, sentiment towards commodities has rebounded and we took a look at how Asia’s new middle classes are helping to shape the business environment. There’s no end to the Brexit discussions and this week we found out that Miton raises its UK property exposure despite the looming referendum. Economy and economics

In our exclusive story, we revealed that fixed term savings accounts risk a surprise tax bill because of how interest is deemed to have been earned. Statistics out this week show that inflation’s fallen for the first time since September and this news was quickly followed by the UK employment figures which reached a record high while wages remained weak. The much awaited report by the competition watchdog included a proposal for banks to set a monthly maximum overdraft fee.
