A man from Hereford and Worcester, and a woman from Essex will be celebrating after scooping the £1m Premium Bonds jackpot for June…could it be you?

The lucky Premium Bonds holders become the 387th and 388th winners of the top prize.

Premium Bonds offered by the government-backed National Savings & Investments (NS&I), are the UK’s most popular savings product. Each £1 bond is entered into a monthly draw, with two lucky bondholders bagging £1m each.

However, there are a host of other prizes too, ranging in size from £25 to £100,000. In total for the June draw, more than three million prizes will be paid out, worth 87.5m. See YourMoney’s Premium Bonds guide for more information.

Have you scooped the top £1m prize?

The man from Hereford and Worcester currently has £27,500 invested in Premium Bonds and bought the winning number in September 2009. The winning bond number is 159QP769919.

The woman from Essex has £50,000 invested in Premium Bonds and bought the winning number in January 2014  217JE297574.

Essex residents have now notched up 14 jackpot wins, with the last in October 2017, while for Hereford and Worcester residents, the last £1m scoop came in 2012.

Jill Waters, NS&I’s retail director, said: “This month marks 61 years since ERNIE first generated random numbers for the Premium Bonds prize draw.

“Since that time, we have paid out 404 million prizes worth £18.4bn and for some, the prizes won may have helped achieve a life dream or go some way to assist saving for their financial future. For the two winners in Hereford and Worcester and Essex, we hope this windfall will bring them happiness for many years to come.”

The full prize draw results will be published tomorrow.

Unclaimed prizes

If you’ve won the big jackpot, ‘agent million’ turns up at your door to let you know the good news. But for the thousands of other winners, they may not even know they’ve bagged a prize.

There are currently 1.4 million Premium Bonds prizes worth more than £58.9m that remain unclaimed.

Of note, is £100,000 won by a woman from Hereford and Worcester in the August 2014 draw. This woman has just £14 invested in Premium Bonds and the winning number is 5FZ109702.

You can check the Premium Bonds prize checker on the NS&I site or you can write to NS&I, quoting your name and address, any former names and addresses, date of birth and your Premium Bonds holder’s number (if known) and it will search to see if you’re a lucky recipient.

To keep track, you can opt to have prizes paid directly to your bank account, or to have the prizes auto-reinvested to be eligible for the next Premium Bonds draw, as long as the total is below the maximum threshold of £50,000.
