Over three quarters of UK Adults are preparing to modify their lifestyles to allow them to save for their future, according to a new survey published by Standard Life.

Forty-six per cent of respondents said that a pledge to improve their financial situation was included in their New Year’s resolutions. Almost a quarter (22 per cent) are planning to save more in 2015, and just under one in five (19 per cent) aim to slash their daily living expenses.

The report also highlighted the problem of low savings in the UK, with only 28 per cent of participants indicating they are content with the amount of money they currently save; 26 per cent said they did not currently save at all.

“It’s clear that lots of people are trying to get on top of their finances,” Julie Hutchison, Standard Life’s Consumer Finance Commentator said, “now is a great time to start planning, and understand your options.”
