Working parents will spend hundreds of pounds to keep their children cared for and amused during the school summer holidays. Christina Jordan reports

Working parents across Britain will fork out hundreds of pounds during the school holidays for their kids to be looked after and kept entertained. Those with two children could spend up to £1,200 on childcare expenses alone.

Over a third will rely on family and friends to help out with childcare; a fifth will cut down or change their working hours to care for their kids, and one in eight will go further into their overdraft than normal over the summer holidays. Thirty two per cent of parents resort to using their savings to fund the extra expense.
