Leading housebuilding companies George Wimpey and Wilson Bowden have bother ported increasing sale prices and orders for the first half of 2006, suggesting robust buyer confidence.

Wimpey said yesterday that “current market and price conditions [in the UK] remain stable”. Wilson Bowden was even more enthusiatic, reporting “a noticeable improvement in many parts of the housing market”.

The sentiments resonate with positive noises from rivals Persimmon, Crest Nicholson and Barratt Developments.

After a significant fall-off in 2004, the housebuilders market has been slowly improving.
