The Post Office has launched a ‘Quick Quote and Buy’ home insurance service in a bid to reduce the time it takes to get a quote.

The service will offer in-branch financial advice to guide customers through the process and aims to provide a quote within two minutes.

The Post Office says that ‘Quick Quote and Buy’ will revolutionise the way home insurance is sold throughout its branches.

Customers will be given instant access to documents.

Paul Havenhand, head of insurance at the Post Office, said: “The introduction of ‘Quick Quote and Buy’ will save our insurance customers time as well as offering flexibility, convenience and a more efficient way of buying home insurance through the Post Office.”

However, experts are encouraging consumers to take their time and look at the small print before they lock themselves into an insurance policy.

Michael Ossei, personal finance expert at uSwitch.com, said: “The new [Post Office] service may save time but is less likely to save customers money.

“We would always encourage customers to shop around before signing up to the first deal that they are presented with.

“With over 70 home insurers on the market there is a high chance that customers may find a cheaper quote elsewhere.”
