Investment funds and ISA funds under management both saw a monthly and an annual increase in December 2007, the latest figures from the Investment Management Association (IMA) have shown.

Investment funds under management of £468bn in December saw a 1% increase from November and a 14% increase from December 2006. This was in addition to a 1% monthly increase and a 6% annual increase in ISA funds under management of £54.3bn at the end of last year.

However, net ISA sales of £17 million in the final month of 2007 were down from the £106.6m in December 2006. The most popular ISA sector during the month of December was UK All Companies, which accounted for 25% of gross ISA sales, according to the IMA.

Net retails sales of equities saw an outflow of £844m in December 2007, of which £242 million was from property funds. The IMA’s figures also showed the Cautious Managed sector was the most popular among UK investors, attracting investment levels of £129.8m. The UK All Companies sector saw the most outflows, suffering losses of £260.4m, according to the IMA’s figures.
