A Premium Bond holder from Kent and another from York have scooped the £1m jackpot for May.

The pair become the 409th and 410th winners of the £1m Premium Bonds jackpot prize.

The winner from Kent had the maximum amount of £50,000 invested and bought their winning bond in August 2013. The winning bond number is 210VY427248.

The lucky jackpot winner from York holds £45,000 worth of Premium Bonds and bought the winning bond in February 2009. The winning bond number is 152JH073647.

Premium Bonds offered by government-backed National Savings & Investments (NS&I) are the UK’s most popular savings product. Each £1 bond is entered into a monthly draw, with two lucky bondholders bagging £1m each.

Over 3 million further tax-free prizes are won in each prize draw ranging from £25 to £100,000.

According to NS&I, £61m worth of Premium Bonds prizes remain unclaimed.

Unclaimed prizes result from NS&I not being informed of changes to personal circumstances, such as address changes.

Bond holders have the option of having their Premium Bond prizes paid directly into their bank account, which ensures prizes never get lost.

How to check if you’re a winner

You can check if you’ve won using Amazon’s Alexa, the prize checker on nsandi.com or the official Premium Bonds prize checker app.

Since February, it has been possible to buy Premium Bonds with a minimum investment of £25.
