The UK economy will grow faster than expected because of the arrival of a more-than-expected number of EU citizens into the country, according to a report from the Centre for Economic and Business Research (CEBR).

“Our assumption was that about 200,000 migrant workers would come to the UK from accession countries – 10 times higher than the Government,” said Douglas McWilliams, CEBR chief executive.
“In fact 600,000 have come and the flow has not stopped yet. This should mean that economic growth will is forecast to be comfortably above Gordon Brown’s target of 2.8%.”
