Nectar has joined forces with energy supplier SSE to give cardholders up to £100 worth of rewards if they switch to the supplier before 5 March.

Cardholders who switch their gas and electricity supply to SSE may receive up to 10,000 Nectar points, worth at least £50 to spend at Nectar partners, which include Argos, Ebay, Eurostar, Pizza Express and Sainsbury’s. They may also receive an additional £50 in gift vouchers to spend at either Currys PC World or Love2Shop.

Cardholders can start collecting by visiting the Nectar website . Those who switch either their electricity or gas tariffs receive 5,000 Nectar points and a £25 Currys PC World or Love2Shop voucher, while those who switch to the ‘Dual Fuel’ (gas and electricity) tariff will receive 10,000 points (plus a £50 Currys PC World or Love2Shop voucher).

SSE said last week that it was in early talks with the competition watchdog regarding the proposed spin-off and merger of its UK household supply operations with those of rival Npower. A recent Which? energy survey, ranked SSE joint-24th with Sainsbury’s ahead of ‘Big Six’ rivals British Gas and Scottish Power. However, Npower was ranked last, in 31st place.

If you’re thinking of switching energy, make sure you carry out a comparison first to see if SSE offers a competitive deal, and the best option for you.
