American Express has doubled its Platinum Card membership rewards points offer and added a £200 travel credit bonus for new customers for a limited period.

Users who sign up to a Platinum Card and spend £6,000 in their first six months will receive 60,000 reward points instead of the standard 30,000 award. A balance of 60,000 points could get card members up to £300 of gift vouchers to spend with retailers such as Airbnb and Currys.

Customers who are referred by a friend receive 65,000 points. If the new customer is approved, the friend receives 18,000 points up from the standard 12,000 points.

The £200 travel credit can be spent with Amex Travel Online and can be put towards flights, hotels and car rental.

The metal card costs £575 a year and comes with a variable purchase interest rate of 28.8%.

Standard benefits of the Platinum card include; room upgrades, late check-outs, airport lounge access at 1,400 airports across 140 countries and receive global travel insurance for the family.

The offer is available until the end of June 2023.
