Things ‘going from bad to worse’

Anna Bowes, co-founder of SavingsChampion.co.uk, said: “Well, as hard as it may be to believe, things have actually gone from bad to worse over the last month and while there were a couple of bright spots in the interim, best buy rates overall have fallen.

“The ISA season was, as expected, a damp squib, although the beginning of the new tax year has brought a couple of new cash ISAs to the Best Buy tables. That said, if you want to earn more than 0.50% AER you need to tie up your ISA cash for at least two years.

“Even UBL UK has dropped down the rankings, falling from the top spot it has dominated since before the beginning of the year in the five-year Fixed Rate ISA table – leaving the best five year fixed rate ISA paying just 1.10% AER – from Shawbrook Bank.”

All rates correct as of 06/04/21.
