It’s that time again, Wimbledon fortnight, when we spend two weeks watching the tennis while eating strawberries and cream and drinking Pimm’s.

Wimbledon is back again and for those visiting the famous tennis courts in SW19, be prepared for an expensive day if you’re planning on buying any food or drinks.

The menu for this year’s event has been shared and the prices are high. A 250ml serving of Pimm’s, for example, will set you back £9.40, a 750ml bottle of water is £2.65 while a 330ml serving of beer is £9.70.

If you’re buying food, an ice cream tub is £4.70, a packet of sweets such as Haribo is £4.20, and the traditional strawberries and cream pot is £2.50.

But for some people, there are freebies to be had including those banking with Barclays or American Express.

Free strawberries and cream offers

Barclays is the official banking partner for Wimbledon this year and customers can enjoy a free pot of strawberries and cream when visiting the famous tennis ground in London.

To get the freebie, you’ll need to visit the ‘Rewards Hub’ in the Barclays banking app first to get a voucher. It’s only to be used on the day you visit and you need to be 18 or over to be eligible. Customers with a premier account can also get a free programme from the Barclays Fanzone at the ground.

American Express also has a raft of deals for its customers at the American Express Fan Experience area at Wimbledon. They can benefit from free trainer and sunglasses cleaning and access the Cardmember Lounge with up to two guests. They’ll also get 10% off every food and drink purchase at the site when using their Amex.

And there’s 20% off at the official Wimbledon online shop, when using an Amex. Cardmembers can also pick up a special radio to listen to while at the tennis.

Vodafone customers who have signed up to the provider’s free loyalty scheme, VeryMe Rewards, can get free strawberries and cream from Morrisons on Friday 7 July, to the value of £3.

To get the freebie, customers need to claim a code from the My Vodafone app and scan the barcode they are given when they check out, with the qualifying items. It’s only available in stores and customers can only claim the offer once.
