Iceland offers ‘three for 3p’ on everyday essentials

Iceland will run a week-long deal offering shoppers three items for 3p to tackle the rising cost of budget foods.

From tomorrow (6am Saturday 18 June) until midnight Friday 24 June, the frozen food retailer will run its online ‘three for 3p’ offer valid on hundreds of grocery items.

It will include 420 items: everyday essentials such as milk, bread and butter, summer foods such as burger buns, ice-cream cones and fizzy drinks, plus fresh and frozen goods.

However, the deal can only be used once per transaction and shoppers need to enter the code ICEPENNY at the checkout to get the three items for 3p.

The maximum saving is 99p on each item in the deal (up to £2.97), once they have been discounted to 1p a piece.

Iceland said it wanted to help tackle the significant increase in the price of some budget food. Last month, the Office for National Statistics found the price of basic pasta had increased 50% in a year while 10 of the 30 basic items it tracked had risen by more than 10%.

Iceland added that the deal ties in with the week before pay day.

Richard Walker, managing director at Iceland, said: “We’re continuing to work hard to ensure our customers are being supported as much as possible as the cost of living continues to rise, and we hope our 3p everyday essentials sale will help a little this weekend.

“Our previous sales at Christmas and Easter were very popular and this time we’ve taken the decision to branch out and offer this deal on everyday essentials, as well as vegetables, to help our customers as we navigate through the cost-of-living crisis. We’re committed helping our customers as much as we can at this difficult time and will continue to do so.”

Shoppers can get free next day delivery when spending £40 online (minimum £25 spend for deliveries). Iceland confirmed Bonus Card holders can use these cards online to get further discounts on their shop, but the three for 3p deal isn’t available at The Food Warehouse.

Last month, Iceland launched a 10% discount scheme for shoppers aged 60 and over each Tuesday. It applies to in-store spends at any of its 950 branches only, but is valid at its sister brand, The Food Warehouse.
