Marks and Spencer is offering 5,000 lucky customers the chance to win their shopping for free this weekend.

The retailer’s ‘Sparks Super Saturday’ on 19 August gives every customer who shops and scans their Sparks card the chance of getting their purchases on the house.

The promotion for loyalty card members applies to both instore and online transactions. Customers shopping instore will find out straight away while those shopping online will be notified via email if they’ve won.

But if you’re not one of the 17 million Sparks members, all is not lost as newbies can also take part by joining the Sparks loyalty scheme ahead of the weekend bonanza.

M&S confirmed the giveaway includes purchases across clothing and food, but there are some exclusions such as gift card sales and alcohol in Scotland due to licensing laws.

YourMoney.com has contacted M&S to find out if there’s a maximum basket value that can be won. We’ll update this article once we hear back.

‘First of its kind Sparks Super Saturday’

The campaign is a ‘supersized’ version of the weekly Sparks giveaway, where every week, in every store, a Sparks customer gets their shopping for free.

Since the Sparks loyalty scheme was relaunched in 2020, a total of £3.5m worth of shopping has been handed out to winners, including a free shop worth nearly £3,500.

Kirsty Ward, director of M&S Connect, said: “Since relaunching Sparks as a digital first loyalty scheme, we’ve doubled the number of Sparks members – rewarding them with personalised offers, special treats and thank yous.

“And one of Sparks’ members most loved rewards is the opportunity to get their shopping for free so, for one day only, we’re supersizing it and giving 5,000 lucky customers the opportunity to get their shopping for free – simply by shopping and scanning their Sparks card in store or online.”
