As part of National App Week, our guest expert, Michael Banks of Corporate Group, reviews the best personal finance apps on the market.

Today: TD Trading

What does it do?

TD Trading allows you to trade shares anywhere, anytime, via your smartphone. It gives you access to a variety of investment options with up to date quotes on stock. It also provides a detailed breakdown of your portfolio, current holdings, market value and overall gain/loss. You can modify the app to create your own watch list and portfolio and securely encrypt of your personal information.

What’s good about it?

The content is thorough, covering13 countries including: the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and Belgium. The help section is handy, providing FAQs, terms of service, rates and charges and an app privacy policy. The best thing about this app is of course that it allows you to trade on the move.

What’s bad about it?

You need to set a username and password for full access to all the facilities and you also need to apply to set up an account with TD Direct Investing. Until you do, you’ll have restricted access to the app’s facilities. Prices are also delayed by 15 minutes if you are not logged in.

Score: 6/10

Verdict:
A useful app for the more experienced trader.

TD Trading is available for free on the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and android devices.
