Two troubled firms will update the markets this week.

Tuesday 16 December

Imagination Technologies Group – half year results

This company is finally showing some signs of stability after a raft of profit warnings. Margins have reduced as consumers accept lower-end smart phones, putting the company under pressure, but Apple’s new iPhones are selling well and could provide Imagination Technologies a needed boost. Investors will want to see how many new licences have been signed and how the Pure division is doing.

Friday 19 December

Serco – trading update

With four profit warnings in the last 12 months investors will be hoping for some good news. Serco’s new CEO needs to restore confidence in the group; its investors will want to hear about his strategy review and long-term rescue plan. US operations and the company’s overall financial situation will also be of interest.
