Results round-up: Companies to watch this week

The company behind Costa Coffee and Premier Inn will update shareholders this week, as will smartphone manufacturer Blackberry.

Tuesday June 17

Whitbread – first quarter results

Hospitality company Whitbread will release its first quarter results on Tuesday. The parent company of Costa Coffee and Premier Inn has been performing strongly of late, so profit taking is a possibility if there are signs of slowing performance. As expansion in the UK and overseas is continuing investors should look carefully at longer-term fundamentals to make sure that they are sound.

Ashtead – full year results

Recent reports from equipment rental company Ashtead have been strong, so investors will be hoping that fourth quarter results on Wednesday continue in the same vein. The strength of the pound and increasing competition will be concerns as the performance of Sunbelt, which operates in the US, is vital to the larger group. Investors should keep an ear out for any discussion of future acquisitions.

Crest Nicholson – half one trading update

Home developer Crest Nicholson will update on the market on how it performed through the first half of its financial year on Wednesday.

Wednesday June 18

Berkeley Group – full year results

Surrey-based housing developer Berkeley Group will deliver full-year results on Wednesday.It is expected to report strong growth in 2013/14 thanks in large part to its significant exposure in London. A dividend of 90p is expected. 

Thursday June 19

Blackberry – first quarter results

Smartphone manufacturer Blackberry will update the markets on Thursday, delivering first quarter results.

Infinis – full year results

Renewable power company Infinis will deliver full-year results on Thursday.
