Monday 18 August
Clarkson PLC – second quarter results
Tuesday 19 August
BHP Billiton – fourth quarter results
Asset write-downs remain a possibility for BHP Billiton and management are likely to staycautious where large-scale investment projects are concerned, but overall the company is expected to improve its numbers slightly this quarter, particularly following a relatively positive production update and rising production levels for some key commodities.
CRH – second quarter results
Imperial Tobacco – interim management statement
Imperial Tobacco recently acquired brands from US tobacco group Reynolds American, and investors will be excited to hear what management has planned for them. Falling sales and volumes is also an issue, so any progress on the company’s ‘optimisation programme’ will be welcome. A response to the Food and Drug Administration’s proposal to oversee cigars and e-cigarettes in the US for the first time will also be of interest.
Persimmon – second quarter results
Wednesday 20 August
Carillion – second quarter results
Glencore – second quarter results
Thursday 21 August
Quindell – second quarter results
Friday 22 August
AGA Rangemaster – second quarter results
Investors will be hoping that AGA’s recovery in sales – thanks largely to the strong UK housing market and improving global economic environment – has continued. New ventures in China and the targeting of urban markets should provide additional sales channels, so investors will be looking for improving numbers and management commentary on how new stores are performing.
