The 20 best performing investment trusts of the last decade
The Association of Investment Companies(AIC) has named the top 20 performing and most consistent investment companies over the past decade.
Top of the pile is the Scottish Oriental Smaller Companies trust, which has outperformed the average investment company in nine of the last ten years, turning a £100 lump sum into £875 over the period.
The second best performing and most consistent investment company of the last decade is F&C Global Smaller Companies.
A £100 lump sum in the fund over the last decade has grown to £654, while the company has outperformed the average investment company in nine of the last ten years.
Aberdeen New Dawn is in third place, which has also outperformed peers in nine of the last ten years, turning £100 into £627 over the period.
Managers with long-term track records feature heavily in the list, with the likes of Standard Life Investments’ Harry Nimmo, Schroders’ Matthew Dobbs and Lindsell Train founder Nick Train, among the top performers.
In total, twelve of the top 20 trusts have had the same manager for at least a decade.
In terms of sectors, funds in UK Smaller Companies dominates the top 20, with no less than seven trusts making the list.
The Asia Pacific excluding Japan sector also features heavily, represented by five trusts.
