Gas prices could fall by a quarter thanks to shale gas; Intel revenues hit by PC slump; IMF calls on Osborne to do more to help recovery.

A report commissioned by Energy Security Ed Davey has shown gas prices could fall by a quarter if Britain exploits its shale gas reserves, The Telegraph reported.

US chip maker Intel has reduced its financial forecasts for the rest of the year, saying the battered PC market would not see the recovery it had been expecting in the second half of 2013, according to the Financial Times.

The International Monetary Fund has called on Chancellor George Osborne to do more to help economic recovery and has questioned parts of his approach, The Times revealed.

Heathrow airport has revealed plans for a third runway, at a cost of between £14bn and £18bn, putting tens of thousands of homes either under new flight paths or at risk of demolition, The Guardian said.

Independent think-tank, Institute for Government, has unveiled a report which claims private companies providing public services are routinely “gaming the system” to make money for their shareholders at the expense of the taxpayer, The Independent reported.
