What does it do?

The L&C Mortgage Assistant keeps you informed of the best mortgage deals available at any given time. It provides information on the best mortgage deals from all the major mortgage lenders and allows you to check deals available on fixed, variable and capped rate mortgages from a wide range of lenders. Based on income, you can calculate an approximation of what you are able borrow, as an individual or as a joint application. The app crunches mortgage repayments, early repayments, rate changes, stamp duty, overpayment and endowment shortfall. It also allows user to check whether they’re currently receiving the best deal on their mortgage and, if not, where savings can be made.

What was good about it?

It’s easy to navigate through the app, which has a simple and effective user interface. As a tool to keep an eye on the latest mortgage deals and an option to request a callback for more information with regards to a deal, this is an app that users will come back to time and time again. Above all, the neat calculation features will save you hours of time wrestling with a calculator.

What was bad about it?

The app’s supposed to include a blog, which doesn’t currently function. There’s also a slight delay with some of the functions for example the ‘capped rate’ button doesn’t always work.

Verdict:

Despite some functionality glitches, this is a useful app that will save users a great deal of time crunching figure and scouring the internet for the best deals.
