Barclaycard has launched a new shopping service that will see it enter the online voucher market currently dominated by the likes of Groupon, LivingSocial and Wowcher.

The new service called Bespoke Offers will offer deals that are tailored to an individual’s preferences and past shopping habits.

Bespoke Offers will be open to everyone, not just Barclaycard and Barclays customers.

It will offer a range of pre-pay deals and money-off discounts for both larger brands and local independent businesses, via scannable codes and direct links to merchant websites.

As it stands the service already offers deals with household names like Starbucks, Virgin Active, Shell and Tesco Direct.

Valerie Soranno Keating, CEO of Barclaycard, said: “We created bespoke offers for every consumer and retailer in the UK.

“We estimate that if the typical UK consumer made maximum use of bespoke offers across their household spend they could potentially save as much as £2,100 per year. For UK retailers this could amount to tens of millions of pounds in additional sales.”

Consumers are advised to double check that the deal that they are buying is actually worth it, and also at a competitive price in comparison to other deals available at the time.
