New and existing customers who sign up to the Barclays Blue Rewards scheme will get double the usual cashback until the end of February.

The banking giant has announced it will double the cashback Blue Rewards customers can earn when they use the SmartSpend shopping site at over 100 retailers.

The offer is open to existing Blue Rewards customers (£3/month fee) and any customers who sign up to the Blue Rewards programme by Monday 29 February.

Customers who make online purchases using SmartSpend during the offer period will receive double cashback on all eligible spending. Here’s a list of 10 popular retailers and the increased cashback customers will receive:

Armani – 16%
Boots –  6%
Clarks – 8%
Clinique – 14%
Gap – 12%
Holland and Barrett – 18%
iTunes  – 10%
Miss Selfridge – 8%
Moonpig – 12%
Nike – 14%

What is SmartSpend and how does it work?

Barclays customers who bank online can already use the free SmartSpend Shopping site to make purchases via the retailers. But if customers sign up to Barclays Blue Rewards (£3/month fee), they get an extra 1% cashback.

You need to log in to online banking and select ‘SmartSpend’ from the top navigation bar or by clicking on the SmartSpend widget.

Before you start shopping, you’ll need to register with each of the Barclays SmartSpend partners before going on to their sites.

After you’ve bought something online, the cashback goes into your Rewards Wallet as two separate transactions – one for the standard rate of cashback, and the other will be for the additional amount.
