Strong rumours are circulating the telecoms industry that Carphone Warehouse is to offer free broadband to users of its Talk Talk landline service later this week.

A spokesperson for Carphone Warehouse would not comment on the speculation but telcoms consultant David Harrington said that such a move would revolutionise the way Internet providers did business.

“It had to come and consumers are benefiting from the fierce competition in the sector,” he commented. “Carphone Warehouse has big ambitions regarding its service in the free market and this would be an excellent tactic to persuade people to sign up.”
