The first is through British Gas, which will offer half-price electricity between 9pm and 11pm tonight as part of its PeakSave Green Flex event.
The offers occur when there is a lot of renewable energy available due to the weather being very windy or sunny.
To claim 50% off your electricity usage, you need to opt in by following instructions on the energy provider’s website.
It is available for new and existing PeakSave customers and the savings will appear on your energy bill.
There are further discounts available on Sundays too. With PeakSave Sundays, you can bag half-price electricity every week between 11am and 4pm every week.

This has been extended to Boxing Day for this year and you do not need to opt in to claim it.
A third opportunity to save on your energy bill comes via Uswitch’s Money Back offer for Christmas Day. To claim the discount of up to £10, customers need to sign up for the scheme by 22 December and reduce their energy consumption when prompted by the price comparison site.
Anyone with a smart meter can take part, regardless of their electricity provider.
You’ll need to download the Uswitch app and connect it to your smart meter with push notifications turned on so you can be alerted as to when you can start your saving session.
The comparison site will work out how much electricity you use compared to your normal consumption and pay you back the amount.
