If you were born on 29 February, then it's finally your time to celebrate after waiting four years for this day. Here's a round-up of the best deals, discounts and freebies for 'leaplings' and shoppers alike.

As the earth takes around 365 days and a quarter to orbit the sun, if you’re lucky enough to be born on 29 February, you only get to blow out candles on your actual date of birth once every four years.

But, if you are a ‘leapling’ or ‘leaper’, there are plenty of enticing offers, ranging from complementary pizza to free trips on a famous London landmark to make the most of the extra day of the year.

Here’s a round-up of the best leap day deals.

London Eye

If you want a bird’s eye view of the River Thames, be sure to head down and be one of the first 100 people who celebrate their birthdays on February 29.

To get your free ticket, head to the London Eye ticket hall on the South Bank and provide some proof you were born on a leap day. (A passport or driving licence, for example.)

Tickets usually cost £40 for the tourist favourite and the offer is only valid for people born on February 29. So if you go with friends, they will still need to pay the full amount.

B&Q

The hardware store is knocking off 10% on 29 products in a campaign to encourage shoppers to make the most of the extra day by chiselling off your DIY to-do list.

It’s not just for those born on 29 February either, so if you want to treat yourself to some new tools, this may be the perfect opportunity to do that too.

For today only, a wide range of goods will have a 10% discount, including:

  • Green Cross line self-levelling laser level – RRP £250
  • Erbauer 113-piece multi-purpose drill bit set – RRP £24
  • Erbauer 950W 240V corded belt sander £BS950 – RRP £85
  • GoodHome Cavally wall-mounted diverter shower kit with one head – RRP £70
  • Werner seven tread aluminium and steel step ladder 2.12m – RRP £86.99

Your discount will be applied once the selected products enter your online basket. It’s not available in-store, unfortunately.

Zizzi

Italian food chain Zizzi is offering you a ‘free’ classic Rustica pizza if you spend £10 in one of its nationwide restaurants.

The options from the Rustica menu include the Piccante, Meat Sofia, and the classic Margherita.

To claim some complementary slices, you’ll have to provide your photo ID.

Krispy Kreme

If you love sweet treats, you can munch on a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for free from any Krispy Kreme shop. Like all the deals today, you’ll need to prove that 29 February is your date of birth (passport or driver’s licence only).

Even if you are not a leaper, any customer can enjoy a box of a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for just £2.29, once you’ve purchased any regularly priced box of 12.

The deals aren’t available online and you’ll need to notify a staff member you wish to redeem the ‘leap day offer’ to receive them.

The Real Greek

For some Mediterranean cuisine, check out The Real Greek to nab £50 off your food bill (no minimum spend) when you dine in any of its restaurants.

The restaurant says you must provide your driver’s licence or passport to redeem the offer and you can use one discount per table.

Lucozade for 1p

Snappy Shopper is offering a bundle of two 900ml bottles of Lucozade (one original flavour, one orange) for just 1p.

To claim the deal – usually worth £4 – shoppers need to download the Snappy Shopper app, search for their local store running the bundle, and proceed to the online checkout.
