The Greek Islands boasts the cheapest spots for a sunny packaged holiday this summer, a consumer champion reveals.

If you book now at Kalymnos or Thassos, you can bag a seven-night stay at the beginning of August for under £900 per person. A venture to the picturesque islands located in the North and South of the Aegean Sea will set you back an average of £847 and £862 respectively.

Kalymnos is a 40-minute boat ride from the island of Kos, and transfers from there are included in that charge. The mountainous area features secluded coves, but plenty of places for a bite to eat in the main resorts of Kantouni, Massouri, Myrties and Pothia.

If you prefer a shorter flight to Spain, then Costa Brava in Spain is your best bet for the cheapest package holiday, costing around £952 per person, according to Which? Travel.

This coastal region is not far from Barcelona and resorts including Santa Susana and Malgrat de Mar, the latter of which can cost you just £839 for a week away.

Week in Amalfi coast for less than £980

Neighbouring Italy also features in the cheapest package holiday options, with the Venetian Riviera and the popular Amalfi Coast setting you back an average of £965 and £977 for a seven-day excursion.

Within the coastal hotspot is Maiori, located to the west of the coast, which tends to be less busy and pricey too, offering an average expense of £915 for the week.

Meanwhile, all-inclusive holidays are having a renaissance as households keep an eye on their finances amid the cost-of-living crisis.

This is due to some much-loved destinations providing good value across the continent. The cheapest all-inclusive holiday is in Tenerife, while Costa Blanca in Spain and Bourgas in Bulgaria also offer great value.

The cost for a week away in those locations, with food and drink paid for, is on average £1,097, £1,103 and £1,112 respectively. At the other end of the scale is Haldiki in Greece, which will cost £1,599 per person for a week away – over £500 more expensive than Tenerife.

However, while those destinations offer an all-inclusive holiday for around £142 per person each day, it’s best to check the booking provider so you don’t get stung. The consumer champion found guests of Loveholidays paid an average of £328 in unc

lear costs, paying for extras including cocktails and snacks during the week.

When booking your summer trip, be mindful of fake adverts on social media, as holidaymakers lost an average of £765 to scammers last year.
