Sainsbury’s has cut the price on selected baby formula milk products, following in the footsteps of Aldi, Iceland and Tesco

From today, the supermarket giant has lowered prices on a range of infant formula products, including Cow & Gate, Aptamil and SMA goods.

Its £7.95 price point for SMA Little Steps Baby Milk Formula from Birth (800g) means it joins both Iceland and Tesco (more on Tesco price cuts below) in offering the cheapest deal on this product.

Here are the products slashed in price (click to expand):

Sainsbury’s recently added all of its Little Ones own brand baby range (over 60 products) into Aldi Price Match,.

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “We know families are still finding things tough and we’re working harder than ever to reduce our costs, putting the money back into our customers’ pockets through lower prices on the products they buy most often.”

Just yesterday, Aldi lowered the price of its own-brand baby formula for the second time in a week.

The budget supermarket slashed the price of its own-label Mamia Infant First Formula from £8.89 for 900g (£7.90 for 800g pro rata) to £8.49 for 900g (£7.55 for 800g).

Meanwhile, Tesco also reduced the price of 1.2kg tubs of Aptamil baby formula to £16 (from £17) and 1.2kg boxes of Cow & Gate baby formula to £12 (from £12.50), which it claimed make both types of formula cheaper per kilogram than in any other major UK supermarket.

It also cut the price SMA Little Steps infant formula, with 800g tubs down from £9.75 to £7.95.

Follow-on milk prices are also coming down, with Cow & Gate 2 follow on milk 800g tubs coming down to £9.65.

Tesco chief commercial officer, Ashwin Prasad, said: “We are always looking to pass savings on to customers wherever possible, and this is just the latest example of us bringing down prices for Tesco customers on the products that really matter to them.”
