Houses in the North have been given a guide price of £1 at an auction to be held next week.

The two and three-bedroom properties in County Durham, Durham and Hartlepool have been listed for sale at auction with a head-turning £1 guide price.

But the mid-terrace properties aren’t for the faint-hearted. They’ll likely need substantial investment and refurbishment with prospective buyers only able to inspect the outside. They also have low F and G energy performance ratings.

The auction, arranged by Bond Wolfe Auctions will take place at the Holte Suite in Aston Villa football club in Birmingham on Thursday 27 February from 10am.

A series of lots are also being marketed with a ‘nil reserve’ guide price. Properties include a two-bedroom detached house in Stoke-on-Trent, a two-bedroom mid-terrace in Cumbria, a two-bedroom mid-terrace in Liverpool and a two-bed end terraced property in Middlesbrough, to name a few.

However, interested parties should bear in mind that demand can push up prices substantially and if you win the bid, you will need to pay a 10% deposit of the purchase price or £5,000, whichever is greater.

Buyers will also need to pay the auction house an administration fee of £1,140 (£950 plus VAT). Always read the legal pack before committing to a purchase.
