Santander is offering a free four-year railcard for customers, but you have to be aged under 25 to claim one.

New and existing account holders aged between 20 and 25 who open a Santander savings account or cash ISA can bag the deal.

A second requirement is that customers need to set up an online or mobile banking account by 31 May 2025.

The final term of the deal includes maintaining a minimum balance of £50 in your account until 30 June 2025 and beyond. A 16-25 railcard for one year costs £35 and saves you a third on the majority of rail fares, excluding travel at peak times.

The price of the same card but for three years is £80, and with there being no offer for a four-year card, you could save £115 with the Santander deal.

A railcard can also be applied to your Oyster card for Londoners, and National Rail estimates the savings on offer could amount to £192 over a year for passengers.

For four years, this means young savers could have an extra £768 saved on travel, which they could add to their new savings account or cash ISA with Santander. The offer coincides with its £50 cashback offer for transfers of over £10,000 from a different provider into a range of Santander ISA products.

Handy deal for Easter break

Saket Jasoria, head of savings at Santander UK, said: “With the Easter and spring bank holidays on the horizon, many people will be saving up for a quick getaway – whether that’s a weekend trip to see friends and family, or just making the most of the opportunity to explore somewhere new.

“We’re delighted to be able to help them make the most of the upcoming holidays, as well as supporting them to save even more over the years ahead, with both the railcard and through our range of savings products.”
