In May, Aldi held onto the crown and extended its lead over its rivals as the cheapest supermarket in the UK.
It celebrated the start of Euro 2024 by offering free beer to fans who might have spilt their own due to overexuberant celebrations. The retailer anticipates over five million pints will be lost every time England scores in the tournament.
The budget retailer is offering a £5 voucher which can buy up to seven cans of beer to the first 1,000 people to email aldibeercheer@clarioncommunications.co.uk with their name and proof of ID. Winners will get their vouchers in time for the final on 14 July.
Asda and Aldi get Euros fever
Another supermarket jumping on the Euros train is Asda, which offers a space for older shoppers to watch the England vs Denmark game in stores in Watford, Manchester and Liverpool. The stores provided free food and drink to ensure they didn’t experience the action alone.
As well as that considerate initiative, the retailer added some deals in its BBQ range for shoppers to tuck into.
