As part of its ‘PeakSaveGreen Flex’ event, thanks to windy conditions, there will be cheaper energy charged by the provider.
These events take place when the forecast from British Gas suggests it will be very sunny or windy, meaning there is more renewable energy available.
Customers need to sign up to PeakSave in order to bag the discounted electricity bill, which can be done by completing this form.
Once you have registered, you then need to opt into the deal. The energy firm has emailed customers today reminding them to opt in if they want to take advantage of the reduced price.
To qualify for PeakSave, you need to be a British Gas electricity customer and have a smart electricity meter. The money saved on the electricity during the discounted events will appear as a credit on your energy bill.
So, with the cheaper rate of electricity, it is perhaps a good time to do more intensive tasks that are more likely to drain your electricity, like operating a washing machine, dishwasher, tumble dryer or oven.
Although you need to opt in for tomorrow’s offer, there is another scheme that will save you cash on your bill that is automatic.
PeakSave Sundays
The ‘PeakSave Sundays’ occur every week between 11am and 4pm, with the price of electricity slashed by half during that five-hour period.
British Gas says the initiative has saved 600,000 customers a combined £11m on their energy bills.
The company has run the energy-efficient scheme over the summer, which has saved customers 326 tonnes of carbon emissions while moving 11,799MWh of electricity usage to Sundays.
This deal will be welcome news for UK households, which will be hit with a 10% energy price cap rise this winter between 1 October and 31 December.
The increase means Brits will pay an extra £149 per year for their gas and electricity.
